Accessibility Statement

Last updated:

At Dr. Jenny Shields, PLLC, accessibility isn’t an add-on — it’s an expression of integrity, compassion, and respect.

We believe everyone deserves a fair and dignified opportunity to engage with our work and resources. We approach accessibility in the same way we approach care — with humility, curiosity, and a commitment to learning and improvement.

Our Approach to Accessibility

Our goal is for this website to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, a recognized global standard for designing inclusive digital experiences. As a solo practitioner with developing design skills, Dr. Shields is continually learning and implementing best practices to meet this standard.

We see accessibility as an ongoing practice, not a finished product. Our efforts are guided by the following principles:

  • Proactive & Foundational Design: We build accessibility into the foundation of the site. This includes using a proper heading structure, adding ARIA roles, ensuring keyboard navigation with visible outlines and skip-to-content links, providing sufficient color contrast, using legible fonts, and writing descriptive text for links and images. Forms are designed with clear labels and instructions.
  • Ongoing Evaluation: Accessibility is not a one-time check. We periodically evaluate our website using a combination of automated tools and manual testing as part of our ongoing maintenance and improvement process.
  • User-Centered Improvement: We believe the most effective way to improve is by involving people with disabilities in the process. Feedback from real-world users helps us identify barriers and build solutions that work.
  • Accessible Media & Documents: We are committed to providing captions or transcripts for multimedia content and strive to ensure any documents (like PDFs) are accessible.

Feedback & Support

Even with our best efforts, we are human and may miss things. If you find an element on this website that lacks a necessary accessibility component, please know that it is an unintentional oversight. Your feedback is essential to our learning process, and we are committed to addressing it.

If you encounter a barrier or have difficulty accessing any content on this website, we want to know so we can help. We aim to acknowledge messages within five business days and will work to provide a solution or alternative access as promptly as possible.
